PeruzeBot
Last updated: 5 October 2026
PeruzeBot is the crawler run by Peruze Technology Limited, the company behind the Peruze shopping app. If you have seen it in your logs, this page explains what it does and how to stop it.
What it does
Keeps prices accurate. Peruze shows products from a curated catalogue of independent brands, and products our users have saved. PeruzeBot checks those products' current price and availability, so the app shows the right price and can tell people when something they saved goes on sale.
Public product data only. It reads product listings and product pages that any visitor can see, such as /products.json on Shopify stores. It never signs in, adds to cart, checks out or submits forms.
How we use it. We keep a product's price, availability, title and image, and every product in Peruze links back to your store. We do not republish your pages and we do not use your content to train AI models.
How often it visits
- Stores in our catalogue are checked about once a week, one store at a time.
- A product a user has saved is checked about once a week.
- It makes one request at a time to any store, with a pause between requests.
- If your store answers 429 or 503, PeruzeBot does not retry. It stops, and all of its crawling pauses for an hour.
How to identify it
User agent. Requests carry the user agent PeruzeBot/1.0 (+https://peruze.co/bot).
Signed requests. Every request is signed with Web Bot Auth (HTTP Message Signatures). Our public key is published at https://peruze.co/.well-known/http-message-signatures-directory, and requests name it in their Signature-Agent header. A request that claims to be PeruzeBot but is not signed with this key is not from us.
How to opt out
robots.txt. PeruzeBot obeys robots.txt. To stop it visiting your store, add:
User-agent: PeruzeBot Disallow: /
Or ask us. Email hey@peruze.co with your store's address and we will remove it from our catalogue.
